Sparrows are usually social creatures.
A lone sparrow is a sign of deep loneliness (Psalm 102:7).
In the Bible, they are hardly worth anything except a mere copper coin. Yet, Jesus said in Matthew 10:29 said that not even one of them falls to the ground without Him knowing it.
You see, they are significant, if not to man, then, to the Father! If God is concerned about a sparrow, how much more concerned is He about us?
God cares for us. He cares about every little detail in our lives. He cares about our hurts, our failures, and our troubles. He cares about our joys as well as our sorrows. God cares about our hopes, our dreams, and our futures. He cares about us.
He knows when we are lonely. He knows when we curl up in the bed and cry. He knows about our feelings of inadequacy and He knows about our hurts.
We don't have to stay lonely.
We have a loving heavenly Father that we can curl up with instead. We have a gracious heavenly Father who gives to us out of the abundance of His love for us. We have a merciful Father who allows us to go through valleys yet brings us to the mountain tops.
Where are you?
Are you on the mountain coming out of a deep dark time in your life?
Or, are you in the valley?
It really doesn't matter where you are because you are not alone. Your heavenly Father is watching. Your heavenly Father is with you. Your heavenly Father is holding you.
Can you feel Him?
Have you cried out in anguish? Have you screamed from the miry pit to help you? If you are on the mountain top have you thanked God for bringing you there? Have you shouted out praises to the One who is able?
Have you reached out to someone else who may be lonely just as you were?
There are lonely sparrows all around us. We will see them if we just open up our hearts and eyes. We will hear their cries if we open up our ears. We can reach out to them if we would just obey the prompting of the Holy Spirit.
Did God just lay someone on your heart?
Will you obey?
Will you reach the lonely sparrow and shower that sparrow with love and understanding?
Will you tell that lonely sparrow about your God?
Will you tell that lonely sparrow about redemption?
Will you tell that lonely sparrow about the One who is Able?
